Quitting dairy seems overwhelming.  Dairy is in EVERYTHING. Something I didn’t really realise until I had to quit dairy myself.

I’d been low-dairy for several years due to feeling icky after having it so I’d discovered some pretty awesome substitutes, BUT I never had to completely cut it out.

Then my daughter was born.  I had to quit dairy (more specifically, cows milk protein) due to my little girl having a suspected intolerance to it as I was breastfeeding.  If my daughter consumes dairy (including via breastmilk) she would vomit constantly and fart like a trooper (not to mention the screaming due to pain!).  I was barely eating any dairy as it was but those little trace amounts and pieces of chocolate ‘here and there’ were enough to trigger a day of screaming.  Dairy doesn’t seem to agree with her little body.

Like I said, I barely ate dairy as it was but it was with this recent dietary overhaul that I realised dairy is actually in almost every packaged food product.  It also made me question the purpose of dairy a little more, given so many women I speak to seem to struggle in the same way I did or have children who are also intolerant to dairy.
