While I’m no travel expert, I’ve recently done quite a bit of travel for work and leisure. Staying healthy while travelling can feel daunting and tricky so these healthy travel tips are ones that I put into practice whenever I travel to keep myself feeling balanced and good.
Sometimes when we travel we can work so hard towards a goal before our travel or event that we end up forgetting about those habits we’ve worked so hard to create. We then return from holiday feeling ‘blah’, unmotivated and bloated.
These are my top healthy travel tips:
Include water at every opportunity. Grab a drink bottle to take with you as you travel and ensure you have water at the table when you’re dining out. If you’re having a slightly more indulgent holiday, add more water!
Walk as often as you can. There is nothing better than exploring a new destination by foot. Walking is such an easy way to get your steps up and explore your destination while saving money.
Nuts and seeds are my favourite travel snacks as they are so easy to find (I even found them at the airport) and they require no preparation before eating. Other great portable snacks include fruit (just not Internationally) oats and bliss balls or bars.
It’s so easy to order a side of vegetables when you are out. I was even able to order a side of vegetables through room service on a day I felt I’d eaten too many carbs and too little greens. Choose meals with a side of vegetables or one that includes vegetables as part of the meal. There are so many delicious options and if in doubt, order a green smoothie!
