Kind Approach To Get Your Kids Off Junk Food
First of all lets take a moment to give ourselves a big pat on the back because being a parent can be hard work; Sometimes it can be difficult to get your child to put food anywhere other than on the floor or walls or up their nose. I hope that this video reminds you that you’re doing amazing while also sharing some practical tips and tricks to assist you in getting your kids off junk food.
And you may even find some of these tips helpful for your own wellness journey!
You have enough going on, you don’t need another hat. Let me take that hat off you!
Children are creatures of habit. They thrive on routine and predictability because it makes them feel safe and secure which is why you need to go easy. This journey towards nourishment must be slow paced to make sure you do not overwhelm them and reading food labels will be an important tool.
Whilst you may not go from chicken nuggets and chips to quinoa and kale
overnight it does not mean that it won’t eventually happen.
Look at what you’re little ones are already eating and find a slight improvement. Whether that be finding a slightly less process version of what they’re already eating or adding something new to their plates for them to try.
Start pre-planning snacks that you can make yourself or with your little ones help. What can you make that’s better than the pre-packaged things that you’re already buying. And as you start making more snacks at home you can slowly stop buying over processed food and bringing it into the house because I think we can all agree that if it’s at arms reach we will eat it or inevitably feed it to our little ones.
Don’t forget to celebrate those small wins to avoid the feeling of being defeated! They’re called baby steps for a reason!
